EarthQuaker Session - Isaiah Mitchell of Earthless
“This is probably my favorite EarthQuaker pedal” says Isaiah Mitchell, pointing to his Dispatch Master.
“I think Daniel Lanois would like it. And I like Daniel Lanois.”
Perched atop a picturesque NorCal mountain landscape (take your pick) Earthless guitarist Isaiah Mitchell gives us a rundown of the equipment he uses to craft the monolithic stoner-psych jams he’s become famous for. From a vintage Stratocaster and a few well-loved pedals, he conjures an eternal hesher raga, each droning note rising upward and outward to where mountains thrust through the sky, sun pouring through the heavens.
His Afterneath aglow, Mitchell follows the wizard to the riff-filled land, letting its otherworldly ambient reverberations lead the way through the rugged terrain. “It’s like the wizard shows you,” he says.
“Instead of having like, four different pedals that can get you the sound, I think EarthQuaker’s getting one pedal that can get you the sound,” he says. “I don’t know a lot of other pedal companies that are getting that out of the box.”
