MEET YOUR MAKER: Ally Amaral

Based on the feedback you’ve been giving, it seems that you guys and gals really love meeting our employees. Hey, we get it. We are obsessed with them too. In fact, working from home and not seeing them every day has been really sad for us, but our wacky Wednesday company-wide web meetings helps us feel less blue. And we get to see everyone’s, um, ‘interesting’ homes. Would it kill ya to make your bed every once in a while? And what is that stain on your shirt? Chili? Again?

But we’re getting off track. Today we get to meet the wonderful and talented Ally Amaral. Circuit building multi-instrumentalist, Rhode Island native, and BFF to dogs and cats everywhere, but especially to Elsa.

Role at EarthQuaker?

Circuit builder.

How long have you been at EarthQuaker?

Eight months.

What’s a typical (non quarantine) work day for you like?

Make some tea, sit down at my QC station and get to work. Several Elsa petting breaks are taken throughout the day.

What’s your favorite thing about working at EarthQuaker?

Everything, but mostly Elsa.

What instruments do you play?

Bass, guitar, piano, clarinet.

Pre-EarthQuaker job?

I worked for Holcomb Guitars run by Nick Holcomb who does lutherie and guitar repair. I helped with repairs and builds, and gave many pets to the precious shop dog, Ruby.

Favorite band?

Julien Baker

Favorite podcast?

 Lizard People

 Favorite TV show?

 Bob’s Burgers

 Coolest skill, besides pedal building?

I can roll a mean burrito.

Favorite recipe?

This recipe for Stuffies, a Rhode Island classic that is stuffing mixed with Portuguese sausage and quahogs, then served inside a quahog clam shell is delicious!

Do you have a pet?

I have a very fluffy cat named Adonis. He has cerebella hypoplasia which pretty much means his coordination isn’t very good and walks with an adorable wiggle. He once managed to sneak outside without us knowing, which he seemed very proud of himself about. After several stressful minutes of searching knowing he at least couldn’t get very far, we found him giving his best attempt to chase down some wild turkeys ten times his little size. He may be small and wiggly but he tries his best and is forever a cute fluffy nugget.

Best Halloween costume you ever wore?

Kale.

Best beauty tip?

Wash that face.
